Some more of the Louvre, from the front.
img_2287.jpg
In front of the Louvre is the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, a miniature lookalike of its neighbor down the street.
img_2288.jpg
The glass pyramid in the Louvre plaza, build much more recently than the rest of the Louvre.
img_2289.jpg
Another look at the plaza, pyramid, and a smaller pyramid on the right.
img_2290.jpg
And another view in the other direction of the small Arc.
img_2291.jpg
The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel.
img_2292.jpg
The view from under the small Arc, through the Jardin des Tuileries and the Place de la Concorde, up the Champs Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe.
img_2293.jpg
The Jardin des Tuileries and a big Ferris wheel.
img_2294.jpg
Approaching a fountain in the Jardin des Tuileries.
img_2295.jpg
A closer view of the fountain, and behind it the Place de la Concorde and the Arc de Triomphe.
img_2296.jpg
The fountain at the end of the Jardin des Tuileries, enroute to the Place de la Concorde.
img_2297.jpg
A closer look.
img_2298.jpg
Entering the Place de la Concorde.
img_2299.jpg
Another far-off view of the Eiffel Tower, from the Place de la Concorde.
img_2300.jpg
A fountain in the Place de la Concorde.
img_2301.jpg
Eric leaned on the fountain to fix his shoes.
img_2302.jpg
We then walked onto the Avenue des Champs Elysees, along which were these stands, presumably for the Tour de France, ending here in five days.
img_2303.jpg
A view of the Grand Palais from across the Champs Elysees.
img_2304.jpg
We went over to check it out. Apparently it is under construction. No surprise there.
img_2305.jpg
The Arc de Triomphe from the middle of the Champs Elysees.
img_2306.jpg
Champs Elysees was packed with people, and there were more and more as we approached the Arc.
img_2307.jpg
More people walking along the Champs Elysees.
img_2308.jpg
Finally, we arrived back at the Arc de Triomphe.
img_2309.jpg
We wandered around for a bit, and then found our way under the street and over to the Arc.
img_2310.jpg
A view from the side of the Arc.
img_2311.jpg
And a closeup from the front.
img_2312.jpg
Looking through the Arc from the Champs Elysees side, with La Defense in the distance.
img_2313.jpg
A view back down the Champs Elysees from the Arc de Triomphe.
img_2314.jpg
A slightly closer look down Avenue de la Grande Armee toward La Defense.
img_2315.jpg
Little me (bottom right) in front of the Arc de Triomphe.
img_2316.jpg
At a nearby theater, I noticed this poster. I don't think they like GWB much over there. Good for them.
img_2317.jpg
Back near the Seine after walking down the other side of the Champs Elysees, we got this view of the Eiffel Tower.
img_2318.jpg
We crossed onto the Left Bank. Here is Hotel des Invalides, which isn't a hotel, and which houses the remains of Napolean.
img_2319.jpg
A closer look at Invalides, which had some cannons out front.
img_2320.jpg
Surrounding Hotel des Invalides were lots of flowers, etc., here taken from the other side of the moat.
img_2321.jpg
A courtyard near Invalides.
img_2322.jpg
And a look at the Dome of Invalides from the front.
img_2323.jpg
Wandering some more, we encountered this building, which isn't so nice looking but is apparently the tallest in France.
img_2324.jpg
A busy plaza nearby. We ate dinner in this area.
img_2325.jpg
Approaching the hotel, we encountered the Pantheon in low light.
